Types of Wedding Photography

Traditional Wedding Photography

Decide which type of images you want from your wedding day. You may want a more traditional set of photos which will entail telling the photographer who you want in the photos.

It's always recommended that you use your best man to keep a list of photographs that you require and to actively liaise with the photographer after the ceremony in order not to forget anyone from the list.

Contemporary & Reportage Wedding Photography

Candid / Reportage example shot
You may prefer something a little more modern and contemporary rather than the more posed, static style.

You can still pose for contemporary shots but it can look far more classy than just a couple stood in front of a church.

A good idea is usually to have a balanced mix of the two types of photos to show your day from various aspects.

it's also nice to have random candid shots of guests (reportage photography) enjoying your wedding day. You can do this of course by having some cheap disposable cameras on each table at the reception meal but they will not look the same as a photographers images from a composure, exposure or lighting perspective. For great looking reportage shots it's necessary to use a long zoom lens with a narrow depth of field to really make the subject stand out from the crowd.
